Andrew Rosindell M.P., Cllr. Wendy Brice - Thompson, Joshua Chapman and Cllr. Frederick Thompson, are pleased to announce that Transport for London has awarded £1.8 million to Havering Council to revamp Victoria Road and The Battis in Romford Town Centre.
The Battis runs alongside Romford station from South Street to Waterloo Road. It’s set to be transformed with the installation of brightly coloured paving to the length of the alleyway and a new open square next to the Sta-tion entrance.
In addition, improvement works are also set to get underway on Victoria Road. New high quality paving on public footpaths and business forecourts will give the road a more uniform look, while better lighting and new street benches will give the street a more pleasant look and feel. There will also be improved access to the bus stop and new cycle parking.
Joshua Chapman said, "This is a very exciting revamp. We have been working extremely hard to secure funding for Romford, especially around the Victoria Road area, so this investment is most welcome."
