At a meeting of the Executive Council this evening, the Romford Conservative Association passed a motion which backed Conservatives for Britain's campaign for fundamental change of our relationship with the EU, whilst also sharing CfB's optimistic, global view of Britain’s future.
The text of the motion is as follows:
"“That this Association:
Considers the UK’s present relationship with the EU of ever closer union to lack democratic accountability and consent;
Welcomes the Prime Minister’s commitment “to reform the EU and fundamentally change Britain’s relationship with it” and the subsequent Conservative manifesto commitments;
Takes an optimistic global view of the UK’s future;
Supports our Party’s policy to renegotiate our membership of the EU according to the commitment set out by the Prime Minister, followed by an in/out referendum;
Considers the minimum acceptable reform must be based on the democratic principle that the UK Parliament will decide which EU laws shall apply in the United Kingdom and so ending the supremacy of EU law.”
Proposed by Cllr. Osman Dervish (Chairman, Romford Conservative Association)
Seconded by Cllr. Joshua Chapman (Membership Deputy Chairman, Romford Conservative Association)
Agreed unanimously by the Romford Conservative Association Executive Council.
