Romford M.P. Andrew Rosindell has backed a campaign by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) calling on the Chancellor to protect transport spending in the upcoming comprehensive spending review.
The 'Grow London - Tell George' campaign highlights five strategic infrastructure projects that all require investment and will be essential to meet the needs of the expanding London population.
Andrew Rosindell MP said:
"Romford commuters will see real benefits from Crossrail, which is under construction - with new trains, higher frequency services and direct links to West London and Heathrow Airport.
"Much of the future growth in greater London will be driven by major investment in transport infrastructure projects that will benefit Romford like Crossrail 2, which will provide better connections to the south west of London, and a much needed new bridge across the Thames in east London that will provide improved links to south east London and Kent.
"Improvements in infrastructure will help provide jobs in the short term but also make the lives of Romford's residents, commuters, and businesses easier, with less overcrowding and reduced delays.
"That is why I'm backing the call for the Chancellor to consider the unique needs of the city and invest to enhance our transport network."
Colin Stanbridge, Chief Executive of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry said:
“Romford businesses are crying out for investment in infrastructure that will bring growth and opportunities. We need to act now to ensure that London maintains its place as a global and we welcome Andrew's support on this important project."
