Conservative Councillors across Romford are proud that this year’s Council Tax will not rise by a single penny after they voted to freeze it during Havering Council’s Budget meeting.
Leader of Havering Council Michael White said: “We understand how hard local people work to earn the pound in their pocket – that’s why we cut Council Tax last year and worked very hard to freeze it this year.”
In addition to freezing the tax, the Conservatives voted to build an additional 400 homes across Havering in order to tackle the ever growing need to house local people.
Michael added: “Despite the millions of pounds worth of savings needed to balance the Council’s books, we have frozen the tax whilst maintaining our services; this has been achieved by slashing red tape and bureaucracy in the Town Hall.”
Conservative Councillors voted to prioritise the maintenance of residential care for the elderly and vulnerable whilst continuing to deliver on the Conservative manifesto promises to keep the weekly black bag waste collection and secure the funding for our libraries, parks, and road and pavement repairs.
